week three of LBL

I was sick yesterday with some kind of food poisoning. I didn't eat much til Katie made me drink this homemade electrolite concoction that included sugar, salt and a liter of warm water. After that I was ravenous. But I didn't work out bc of my queasy stomach. Today however I'm feeling great. I've already done one workout and plan at least two more.

Due to yesterdays stomach nonsense my weigh in is 241lbs. Measurements are as follows:
Head: 24 1/2in
Bust: 46 3/4in
Ribs: 40 1/2in
Stomach: 49in
Hips: 53 1/2in
Thigh: 28 1/2in
Upper arm: 17 1/2in

I think I need a bike. That kind of cardio and strength is what I'm itching for most. Well, that and a track but I know when to call it quits on *that front. :J

Here's to hoping something changes drastically. Cheers.

Picking Up Where I Left Off...

Hello, all. I had a VERY rough February-May as I was socially incapacitated in planning Katie's wedding. Yes, I said May and it is now June. The days and months are right, don't second guess your internal clock or calender, whichever the case may be. It has been a beautiful spring and I felt I deserved a few weeks off from the world. A few weeks turned in to a couple months, true, but the point is I'm back in action and ready to prove all is well. SO, let's get this started, shall we?

I signed myself on for a friendly competition called "Little Biggest Loser." It was put together by a new friend of mine named Drew Bingham. He decided to completely reshape his lifestyle, get in shape and take it a step further by making it his number one priority. However, because change of this nature can be very difficult, he decided to make it a group effort. We all see the need for reform in the way we eat, live and treat our bodies. And with the help of the Little Biggest Loser (LBL) competition, we know we're not going through such drastic changes alone. There is a simple point system and each individual is part of a group of four-five people that they can immediately consider to be their support system.
The competition goes from June 1st to December 1st; a full six months.

My measurements stand thusly:
head: 25 in
bust: 47 in
under bust (ribs): 39 in
upper arms: 16 in
stomach: 51 in
hips: 52 1/2 in
thighs: 27 in

weight: 247 lbs.

I have been pretty disappointed in my progress but I have to keep reminding myself it's only been two weeks and this is the kind of change that I need to work myself into. I'm done sitting on the sidelines however. I haven't been working out nearly as much as I could. I think it's taken me this long to plateau, oddly enough. I lost more weight than I expected before the wedding, and the fact that I was able to keep a majority of it off during the hectic period that followed the wedding simply astonished me. So, since I haven't lost anything and actually gained three lbs in the last month, I know I need to step up my game, and shake things up.

I'll keep things up and keep you all posted.

And for those of you who'd like more information about LBL, here's a link to Drew's blog. Enjoy!

One day in the faculty bathroom....

I work at a high school. Kind of. I work with a post grad program for special needs adults (18-22) who were unable to pass the required tests needed to receive their diplomas. I help these people understand social situations, grasp concepts of proper adult behavior and teach them the skills they will need most when in the world: grocery shopping, filling out job applications, proper attitudes in work environments, etc.

But I don't actually work on the high school campus. I work near the high school soccer field. But the other day I went to the high school and found myself needing to use the restroom. I don't dislike using the same toilets as thousands of teenage girls but there is a faculty bathroom I had never used. So I decided to see what the big difference was. This is what I found.

The second weigh in!

The last week of January I did not work out or follow as strict a diet as I had been. Why? Two reasons: my lungs were so filled with phlem I felt like a life long smoker when ever I tried any kind of physical activity, AND chicken noodle soup is stunningly high in calories.

So last week I started fresh, feeling as though I had let my body go, which is saying something, believe me. Previously I'd been able to work out for approximately an hour with a few water and "catch my breath" breaks. But Monday I could hardly get through the warm up before ducking out and nearly passing out. I was (and am) still sick but the coating of thick nasty in my lungs was considerably less and therefore I assumed I was out of the woods. Not so, however. So it took me another two workouts to get my longevity back. But I'm back!

Measurements soon to follow

Weigh in for 2/4/11:

                      248 lbs

That's a whole ten lbs lost. Exceeding my goal for 2 lbs a week, for sure! I'm stoked, obviously.

So here comes the other good news. We've decide after workouts 3 times a week, to go jogging/speed walking. Yeah, its freezing. Yeah, there's still snow on the ground. Yeah, we usually work out at night. But I'm excited for the possibility of working up enough of a sweat that I don't notice any of these things.

I love you all and hope those who are trying to better themselves and change their life styles have the best of luck and the strongest of determinations!

I'm so excited!

We plan to have a big reveal of our results this coming Monday before workouts and I'm so stoked to see the evidence of the changes I've been feeling so much lately. Diet, regular workouts and constant water consumption combined should make a huge difference all together. I've decided to make this whole thing public, at least to those who are approved.

Weight and measurements as of 1/10/11:

(from top of skull to under chin) Head: 25 in
Bust: 49 in
Under bust (ribs): 44 in
Upper arm: 18 in
Hips: 54 in
Thigh: 32 in

Over all weight: 258 lbs

Weight and measurements will be recorded and posted every two weeks or every ten exercise days. I'll see if I can talk my workout buddies into letting me show their progress on this blog as well. Anyway--much love and affection.

Let's Start at the Beginning

From the last time I posted (in March of 2010) a lot has happened...obviously. So I'd like to start where I left off. After school ended I moved out of my stinking shared apartment. And to Provo for the summer. I moved about three blocks away from Thayne and lived with three roommates: Stephanie, Sarah and Natalia. The latter two.....well....The first mentioned, Stephanie is one of my closest friends, even now. I adore her!

She is a senior at BYU and recently finished her first (and last) volleyball season with them. She transfered from U of A though so she was a total volleyball pro. She made my summer great fun!

Also Jake, a guy I friended real quick on Craigslist helped me enjoy my time in Provo.

I worked the summer away at APX Alarm headquarters in Provo and loved the times I had there as well.

Over the summer I painted:

I partied:

and I played games...lots of games:

((*Note from Stephanie: "For all those untrained eyes that can't tell
what this picture is portraying, it is Michael Meyers
and Friday the 13th.

Duh"))

And after my last day of work at APX I had surgery. I just went into the 24 hour clinic to have my armpit cyst looked at because it hurt, and they offered to take it out. I said, "uh....OK!" and they did it. I was only in the clinic for 2 hours and it only cost me about $25 since I was unemployed without insurance. So, score. (but no pics, sorry...kind of.)

more to come, shortly.

Chris Brown said it best

I'M BACK!!! Sorry I was gone for so long, folks but I'm back with a vengeance! I have a ton of news but not a lot of pictures but I'll do what I can.

First item of news: I'm taking a semester off of college.

When I first considered doing so I felt it would be the end of the world. But then I considered going back for the second semester and then THAT felt like the end of ME. I officially withdrew Sunday morning after MUCH personal deliberation and prayer. I have vowed not to waste my time. I'm hoping to get more work, get fit, and learn some awesome stuff (guitar, crocheting, quilting, brail, moris code, etc).

Already I've got not only a workout plan but three amazing workout buddies. And yes, they are my family members.

This was not my new years resolution, however. No, this is something I hope to do the rest of my life, not just during 2011. I started Monday (and have already lost 4 lbs!!)

My new year's resolution is to use a talent each day. Whether it's sewing, singing, writing, listening to someone's troubles, giving advice or crafting IT DOESN'T MATTER!! I will not hide my God given talents for another day!

SO! That's it for now. I'll work on the picture thing today or tomorrow. Thanks all! Love ya!
